News From Oct 2019
Great news from the Borzoi Club of Northern California weekend in Pleasanton! There were 2 all-breed shows, and 2 specialties. On Friday, October 18, the first show was the all-breed show, Skyline Dog Fanciers Of San Mateo County, judge Mr. Masaki Shimizu. Hawk (Morozova Rey’s Summerlane Wind Rider) was Reserve Dog to a 4 point major. Kibo (CH. Tantezampe Kilimajaro Trek At Rey) made the cut in a large BOB ring. The second show on Friday was the independent specialty, with judge Mrs. Keiko Shimizu for sweepstakes and Ms. Lesley Brabyn for the regular classes. Doreen Calrstad’s Zephyr (Rey’s Summerlane Night Wind At Regius) took home the Reserve Dog ribbon, to a 5 point major! Kibo secured his first GCH major and win over specials with a very nice Select Dog placement. Kibo also came home with first place in the Stud dog class.
On Saturday, which was the second BCNC specialty, under judges Ms. Cindy Tellefsen for sweepstakes and Mr. Robert Placefor regular classes, Zephyr was Best in Sweepstakes and sister Mandy (Moroova Rey’s Summerlane Mandolin Wind) was Best Opposite Sex in the sweepstakes. In the regular classes, Hawk earned his first major win with a 4 point winners dog placement! his brother, Zephyr took Reserve Dog. The judge told me it was very close between these two! Kibo came home with a nice Award of Merit, and Brooke (GCH Aruzia Joyous Ruisseau Royale At Rey, CGC) also earned an Award of Merit.
At the all-breed on Sunday, under judge Mr. James Donahue, Hawk grabbed his second major - 3 points! He now has 8 points, and both majors at 6.5 months of age. We are hoping this is just the beginning for his winning ways.
